The Client Brief
The client desired a modern look and feel and requested the extension of their kitchen to include a large island, multiple pantries, and a study area.
The Challenge
The main challenge of the renovation was determining which walls to use and which to not use in order to create an open plan design. Additionally, reducing bulky items in the space was crucial in creating a streamlined look.
The Design Solution
The design solution involved using two walls in the new area, which allowed for the creation of a large 3-meter island and two pantry spaces with pocket doors for appliances. A narrow study space with base cabinets and open shelving above was also included for art display.
The Result
The result was a modern black and white kitchen with a handleless appearance, and bulky items hidden at the back to create a spacious feel. A 4-seater island with drawer systems added functionality to the space, making it perfect for apartment living.
